Blockbuster clashes await as ‘zone of death’ takes centre stage in Lotto/Let’sBet T10
With sixteen teams vying for regional supremacy and an all-important ticket to the national stage, the margin for error is razor-thin.
(Kaieteur Sports) Widely branded as the tournament’s ‘Zone of Death’ courtesy of a fiercely competitive lineup stacked with serial champions, the East Bank/West Demerara leg of the Lotto/Let’sBet One Guyana T10 Tapeball Blast gets underway today across four venues.
With sixteen teams vying for regional supremacy and an all-important ticket to the national stage, the margin for error is razor-thin.
The opening day features a demanding three-window schedule at 10:00h, 12:00h, and 15:00h across the Farm Ground, Goed Fortuin, Uitvlugt, and Meten-Meer-Zorg (MMZ).
The morning and midday matches will decide the final eight, leading directly into the afternoon’s high-stakes quarter-finals where each ground winner books a spot in Sunday’s final four.
At Farm Ground, Soesdyke XI square off against Laluni Sports Club in the opener before defending zone champions Eccles All-Stars begin their title defence against The Elite Conquerors.
Over at Goed Fortuin, powerhouse contenders Village Rams lock horns with Brave Heart, followed by Team Eastsyde tangling with Vintage All Stars.
Meten-Meer-Zorg Ground hosts Knight Riders against Young Steppaz before tournament dark horses Young Guns take on a formidable Airport SVC outfit. Meanwhile at Uitvlugt, Hyde Park battle Trendsetter in the morning slot, paving the way for a heavyweight clash between Zeelugt Sports Club and reigning 2025 Essequibo Zone champions Mahdia Movements Family.
The action shifts exclusively to Meten-Meer-Zorg on Sunday, August 16, for the business end of the regional leg. The first semi-final is slated for 10:00h, followed immediately by the second semi-final at 12:00h.
The weekend reaches its climax at 15:00h with the grand zone final to crown the East Bank/West Demerara champions.
Admission remains completely free to the public across all venues throughout the weekend.
Substantial financial rewards are on offer across every stage of the knockout bracket.
The zone champions will walk away with G$500,000 and confirm their marquee date against Berbice Zone champions Grillmaster Sip N Play All-Stars at the national semi-finals.
The regional runners-up will pocket G$200,000 courtesy of M.S. Roshandin Group of Companies, while the two losing semi-finalists take home G$50,000 each compliments of Camille’s Academy.
Teams falling in Saturday afternoon’s quarter-final round will receive G$25,000 each courtesy of Scoop Ride Inc.
Beyond the immediate silverware, the eventual zone champion stays in the hunt for the grand prize at the National Finals on Sunday, October 11, at the Anna Regina National Stadium, where a massive G$2 million purse awaits the overall champions, alongside G$1 million and G$500,000 for second and third place respectively.
Following the conclusion of this weekend’s festivities, the One Guyana T10 caravan heads straight into the Essequibo Zone from August 22–23, culminating with their regional finals at the Anna Regina National Stadium.
