Dem Life Golf Tournament returns to Lusignan Golf Club today

(Kaieteur Sports) Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) is set to host another staging of the Dem Life Golf Tournament today, Saturday, August 15, 2026, as Demerara Mutual Life Assurance Society continues its longstanding support for golf in Guyana.

The tournament will tee off at 12:30 p.m., following an assembly time of 12:15 p.m., and will be played over 18 holes under a medal play format.

At a simple presentation ceremony DemLife’s Sales & Marketing Manager Dave Persaud said, “At DemLife we always support sporting activities. Golf has been a developing sport in Guyana and we always aim to give back at every opportunity. We saw partnering with LGC as a way of our social corporate responsibility as we have done in the past with the club. Hence we are continuing the tradition.”

Golfers will compete across three handicap flights: Flight 0–12, Flight 13–18 and Flight 19–28, with first-place prizes available in each category. Additional prizes will be awarded for Senior Flight, subject to a minimum of three participants, as well as Overall Best Net, Best Gross, Nearest to the Pin on Hole No. 8 and Longest Drive on Hole No. 1.

Demerara Mutual has maintained a longstanding relationship with the club and has sponsored golf tournaments at Lusignan for decades. Historical records show Demerara Mutual-sponsored tournaments dating back to at least the 1990s, with the company described in 2016 as having supported golf in Guyana for nearly 25 years.

The partnership has continued in recent years, with the Dem Life Golf Tournament returning in 2025. That tournament was won by Patrick Prashad, who posted a gross 76 and net 66.
