Gold Miner, nurse arrested with over 30kg of ganja
(Kaieteur News) – A 26-year-old gold miner of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam, Berbice and a 30-year-old female nursing assistant of Rosignol, West Bank Berbice, were arrested on Tuesday for having over 30kg of marijuana in their possession in the vicinity of Harmony Hall Mahaicony.

According to a statement from the police, ranks observed a motorcar parked on the northern side of the road in the vicinity of Harmony Hall while they were conducting a patrol. The vehicle was approached and contact made with the two occupants.
The vehicle was searched and three large garbage bags containing seven transparent compressed parcels with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were discovered.
They were placed under arrest and escorted to the Mahaicony Police Station along with the suspected narcotics which was subsequently weighed in their presence. Police said the narcotics were lodged, and both individuals were taken into custody as investigations continue.
