Two Cuban nationals slapped with TIP charges
(Kaieteur News) – Two Cuban nationals, who were recently arrested and charged with offences under the Trafficking in Persons Act, were on Friday granted bail when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Charged: Raudel Valverde
The Guyana Police Force in a statement said that Raudel Valverde and Yenifer María Quevedo Millán, both appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty, where the charges were read to them.
Valverde was charged with unlawful withholding of documents and recruiting by force or coercion for the Purpose of Exploitation, while Quevedo Millán was charged with harbouring for the Purpose of Exploitation.

Further, Valverde was granted $150,000 bail for unlawful withholding of documents and $750,000 for Trafficking in Persons, and recruitment. While Millán was granted $750,000 bail for Trafficking in Persons, and harbouring.
As part of their bail conditions, the duo is required to report every Friday to the Trafficking in Persons Unit at CID Headquarters.
They are to return to court on June 19, 2026.
