Lusignan Sports Club beat Golden Grove
(Kaieteur Sports) – Host Lusignan Sports Club defeated Golden Grove by eight wickets last Sunday when the East Coast Cricket Board Navin Construction 50 overs tournament continued.
Golden Grove batted first after winning the toss and tallied up 131 all out off 28.4 overs, while the home team responded with 135 in the 16th over.
Opener Stephen Alick led the way for Lusignan Sports Club with an aggressive, unbeaten 61 which contained two sixes and ten fours during his 36-ball show at the crease.
His fellow opening partner Shazam Ali hit 54 not out. Ali struck nine fours while occupying the crease for 46 deliveries.
The pair put together an enterprising, 102-run first-wicket stand.
Former Guyana youth player Krishna Deosaran also featured for Lusignan Sports Club and was on 7 when victory was achieved.
Terrence King picked up two wickets for 16 runs from three decent overs, bowling for Golden Grove.
When Golden Grove batted, S. Mangal, top-scored with 29 as seamer Navendra Persaud grabbed 6-38 from his maximum 8 overs and Rajindra Naikbaran supported with 2-13 (06).
