(Kaieteur Sports) – Middle-order Mavindra Dindyal stroked a composed half-century under pressure to help defending champs Demerara scurry home by 3-wickets against Berbice when action continued at the Number #69 Ground, Corentyne.

Player- of- the-match Mavindra Dindyal carried Demerara to victory with his unbeaten half-century yesterday against the Berbicians.
The Berbicians failed to utilize their familiarity with the home conditions and paid a heavy price after the Demerara spinners unit left them reeling.
All-rounder Zeynul Ramsammy fought with a scratchy 39 from 67 with a solitary four six, while Clinton Pestano led a brief fightback scoring 3 fours and a pair of sixes in 29 off 28 balls.
Only Garfield Benjamin (22), Kevin Sinclair (17) and Shimron Hetmyer (16) added some runs to the cause as Berbice fell for a paltry 162 all out in 47.4 overs.
The Demerara spinners put on a clinic, led by the Harpy Eagles off-spinner Richie Looknauth who bowled beautifully for his 4-31 from 10 overs.
Ashmead Nedd (2-23) was also classy during his 10 over spell, alongside Chandrapaul Hemraj (2-20) with a wicket each from Johnathan Van Lange and Mavindra Dindyal.
Demerara fought relentlessly during the chase led by Dindyal, who grafted an unbeaten 61 from 88 deliveries, with a pair of fours and a many in sixes.
His 62-run 7th wicket partnership with West Indies U19 all-rounder Van Lange, who returned with bat to muscle 3 sixes and a four in his 32 not out; took Demerara to 166-7 in the 46th over.
The Berbice spinners tried to replicate feats similar to that of their opponents and almost pulled off heist after Junior Sinclair (3-48), Veerasammy Permaul (2-15) and Kevin Sinclair (1-35) keep giving Demerara scares.
Similar to the first innings, spin was the choice of weapon used by Demerara to remove the opening pair of Ushardeva Balgobin (15) and Captain Matthew Nandu (13) who fell deliveries apart.
Sinclair with help from Permaul managed to bag key wickets of Tevin Imlach who departed for a run-a-ball 15, Raymond Perez (5) alongside all-rounders Shamar Apple (7) and Looknauth (2).
When Ronaldo Alimohamed (5) was dismissed, it was left to Dindyal, who eventually got to his fifty but with tons of work still left to do alongside Van Lange.
The pair of national players carries their bats with Van Lange nailing a maximum to end a tense chase with overs and a few wickets left.
Berbice lost five of their wickets for 47 runs, including the big fishes in openers Junior Sinclair (3) and Tomanni Caesar (4) as well as Test player Kevlon Anderson (0); as Nedd and Looknauth rocked the top order.
A returning Hetmyer smacked two fours before being caught behind off Looknauth by another fresh star in wicket-keeper Imlach.
Benjamin, Ramsammy and Pestano shared small but important partnerships which took Berbice over 100 and inevitably the psychological 150-run mark in the 46th over before the innings eventually ended. (Clifton Ross)
