Dharry honoured with NY City’s Highest Award ahead of August 9 Super Fight in Guyana

Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s highest-ranked and most decorated boxer, Elton Dharry, was recently honored with New York City’s highest civic award, presented at the iconic Gracie Mansion for his dedication to the sport, his continued contribution to boxing, and for uplifting the Guyanese heritage on global stages.
The award was presented by Congresswoman Jenifer Rajkumar on behalf of the Mayor of New York City, recognizing Dharry’s influence and achievements as a global ambassador for both boxing and Guyana.
Dharry, who currently holds the WBA Gold Title and WBC International Belt, at # 4 worldwide, remains the top-ranked Guyanese boxer in the world.
Local fans will have the opportunity to see him live in action on August 9 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, as he headlines a stacked fight card.
The event, promoted by Pine Grove Inn Promotions and Elton Dharry Promotions, is sanctioned by both the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) and the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA).
The card will also feature: Desmond DeClue vs Laured “The Lion” Stewart for the Guyana National Cruiserweight Title. Olympic standouts Keevin Allicock and Desmond Anderson, WBC Title contender Dexter Marques and rising female amateur stars Abiola Jackman and Akeelah Vancooten.
The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Nal’s Nest, and Ramchand’s Auto.
