Kaieteur Sports – The men’s knockout stage in this year’s One Guyana $1M Kings Sand Football begins with a double header tonight as sixteen teams remain, while the women’s tournament, which has at stake $400,000 for the victorious team, gets underway also under floodlights with two matches in the opening round of the Queen’s competition at the People’s Progressive Party /Civic ground next to its Linden Office in Mackenzie.
In the first match of the men’s knockout, Golden Stars B, who ended second place in Group D, will take on Group C’s Gorillas who also placed second in their group.
That game will be followed by one to start the women’s championship as Aroiama FC seek a win when they face Dynamo at 8.20pm.
The second game in this female competition will then pit Speightland against Hururu from 9.00pm.
The final game in the men’s tournament will see Group A second place finisher Golden Stars A facing High Flyers, who came out tops in Group H after playing unbeaten.
The next playing date is Christmas Day, December 25, when five more games are scheduled. Two female encounters and three men’s knockout clashes, starting from7.30pm with the first game will be contested.
