(Kaieteur News) – The International Chinese Acrobatic Troupe has taken Guyana by storm, delivering a series of electrifying performances since launching its national tour.
The tour commenced at the Leonora Track and Field Stadium, West Coast Demerara on Sunday where the group treated Guyanese to a vibrant display of skill and precision. It then moved to the National Cultural Centre on Monday night and will return there for another show Friday night.
At the Leonora track and Field Stadium the show quickly won over the audience, many of whom responded with patience and enthusiasm even as performers experienced some missteps during what was their first showing. The overall quality of the acts, however, drew strong applause throughout the evening.

A graceful stage performance by the acrobats, creating a striking illusion by balancing decorative parasols above their extended legs, blending elegance, symmetry, and theatrical artistry.
The Leonora facility was filled to capacity, with seats on the ground fully occupied while scores of attendees stood at the back or gathered in the stands. The car park was also crowded as families arrived early to secure parking. Two large screens were installed to ensure those further from the stage could still view the performances.
Featuring primarily young performers, the production opened with a Lion Dance led by a 14-year-old, and other acts included hand-standing routines, rope skipping, group acrobatics, ball juggling, a solo contortion performance, hoop diving, foot juggling, and an intricate jar juggling act to conclude the event. Members of Guyana’s National Dance Company also performed a Guyanese dance piece, showcasing local culture.
Master of Ceremonies Katusha Fraser told the audience that the troupe has performed in more than 80 countries and earned over 50 awards. She noted that the group first performed in Guyana in 1981 and has returned more than four decades later, underscoring the enduring friendship between Guyana and China. The performance forms part of activities marking Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary, with the troupe scheduled to appear at several locations across the country, including the National Cultural Centre in Georgetown, Albion Stadium, McKenzie Stadium, and Anna Regina Stadium. The tour is being co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Guyana and the Government of Guyana, with sponsorship from CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited.
