Kaieteur Sports – Guyana’s push to make its mark in 3×3 basketball at the continental level has taken another step forward, with the nation’s youth team arriving in Panama City ahead of the 2026 South American Youth Games.
The four-man squad of Daniel Chisholm, Jaden Simon, Kadeem Beckles and Stephan Duke, will open their campaign on April 23 against Brazil, before facing host nation Panama later on the same day.
Their group-stage schedule will conclude against Venezuela, with qualification to the medal round firmly in their sights.

The South American Youth Games, which runs from April 12 to 25, brings together more than 2,000 young athletes from 15 countries competing across multiple disciplines, including 3×3 basketball.
President of the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF), Michael Singh, expressed gratitude to the Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) for its continued support of the programme.
Singh noted that Guyana’s involvement at this level reflects steady progress since the country’s previous participation at the 2017 edition in Chile where the country was represented by Nigel Bowen, Isaiah Hintzen, Akeem Crandon and Shamar France.
Singh stressed that the federation’s strategic focus on developing 3×3 basketball is beginning to yield tangible opportunities.
He pointed out that Guyana is now consistently represented at regional and continental multi-sport events, including the South American Youth Games, the Central American and Caribbean Games, and even the Commonwealth Games.
Importantly, Singh highlighted the value of such exposure for young players, noting that participation against high-level opposition is critical for development.
Singh believes these experiences will not only sharpen the players’ competitive edge, but also contribute to the long-term growth of 3×3 basketball in Guyana.
