Kaieteur Sports – Guyanese boxers Desmond Amsterdam and Keevin Allicock have both gained qualification to 2023 Pan American Games, which is slated to take place from October 20 to November 5, in Chile, at the La Reina Community Sports Center.
The Pan American Games is the first direct qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Competing at the AMBC Elite, Youth & Junior American Boxing Championships in Cali, Columbia, both boxers also made it to the semifinal round in their respective weight class.
Last evening, Amsterdam was scheduled to face Trujillo Barillas of Guatemala in the Elite Men 75-80KG Light Heavy Weight Class while Allicock was billed to take on Caleb Josue of Puerto Rico in the Elite Men 54-57KG Feather Weight Class.
Up to press time, the boxers had not entered the ring. Details will be available in tomorrow’s issue.
