Digicel’s Schools Football Championships 2023…
Kaieteur Sports – The eighth edition of the Digicel Schools Football Championship continues today with the Region Four (Georgetown) semifinals at the Ministry of Education (MoE) Ground as the tournament moves one step closer to crowning the ninth Regional Champion.
Thus far, the Regional Champions of the 2023 edition are Santa Rosa (Region 1), Charity (Region 2), Leonora (Region 3), Region 4 (East Coast) – Buxton, Region 4 (East Bank) – Soesdyke, Mahaicony TI (Region 5), BEI (Region 6), Kato (Region 8), St. Ignatius (Region 9) and Mackenzie High (Region 10).
Region Four (Georgetown) and Region Seven are the only remaining zones left to crown a Regional Champion.
In the final-four showdowns today, the first match is pitted for 16:00 hrs between West Ruimveldt and Dolphin while the second battle features Excelsior and Charlestown, who collide at 17:30 hrs. The winners of these two matches move on to the final.

Meanwhile, four more matches are scheduled to precede the semis with games being played at the MoE and National Insurance Scheme (NIS) Grounds.
At NIS, New Campbellville and North Ruimveldt lock horns at 13:00 hrs then St. Winifred’s trashes it out with Tucville at 14:30 hrs. Over at the MoE venue, the action start at 13:00 hrs with Richard Ishmael versus Tutorial and North Georgetown versus East Ruimveldt at 14:30 hrs.
On Wednesday the action in the Georgetown zone continued with one match that saw Excelsior destroy Marian Academy 10 – 0. The eventual winner was led by a hat-trick from Antonio McArthur (15’, 21’ & 28’) while doubles came from Solomon Reginald (11’ & 46’) and Dwayne James (26’ & 51’).
Adriano Wharton (31’), Shaquille Sargeant (52’) and Tyrese Lyle (60’) accounted for the other goals.
