Kaieteur Sports – On Friday and Saturday, June 16th and 17th last at the Marian Academy and Saints Courts, President’s College A and B teams advanced to an all-Royals Female Regional final after easily beating Marian Academy, and the Bishops High School respectively in play in the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Schools tournament sponsored mainly by ExxonMobil.
In game 1: President’s College B dominated the Bishops High School 21 points to 5.
The Top performers for PC were Tikisha Vanlong 8 pts, 3 steals and Krizel Wells 5 pts, 5 rebounds. Gianna Wilson for Bishops had 2 pts, 3 rebounds.
Game 2 resulted in President’s College recording 9 points to Marian Academy’s 1 point with PC’s Chrisleyan Richards hitting 6 points and 2 rebounds.
On Saturday, June 17th at Saints Court, game 1 resulted in The Bishops High pouring in 69pts versus St John’s College who only managed 6pts.
For the winning BHS unit, Yaniel Easton had 14 pts, Aiden Doris 10 pts and Colwyn Stephens 8 pts, while for St John’s College, Joshua Pitt had 3 points, 4 rebounds.
In the second encounter, Saints Stanislaus shot 34 points to beat Charlestown Sec. with 8 points.
For Saints, Alafin Joseph 10 pts, 3 rebounds, 3 assist, 5 steals, Allyn Adams 8 points and Joel King 5 pts, 12 rebounds led their charge, while for Charlestown, Kevon Harlequinn 4 pts, 4 rebs, 4 steals.
Over at the Marian Academy Court, GTI 41 pts overcame Marian Academy with 26pts. Leading GTI were, Martin Edwards 10 pts, 9 rebounds and Peter Langevine 10 pts 6 rebounds, while Marian responded through Marian Fiedtkou 12 pts, 2 rebounds and Jaden Simon 9 pts, 8 rebounds.
Christ Church scored 20 pts versus School of the Nations with 11 pts. Christ Church reached their total through performances from Orlando Monah with 7 pts, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and Renako Solomon 6 pts, 4 rebounds. For School of the Nations, Dequan James recorded 4 pts, 7 rebounds.
Quarter Finals were set for Georgetown in the male division yesterday at the Saints Stanislaus hardcourt. The contests were to feature GTI v Chase Academic, St. Roses v North Georgetown, Saints Stanislaus v Queens College and The Bishops High v Marian Academy.
The Regional Conference is Powered by ExxonMobil, with support from Edward B. Beharry, G-Boats GY and the National Sports Commission.
