Essequibian-born Gavin Prashad missed out on a century having scored 95 to lead his team Tricity Ravens to a comfortable 42-run win over Cambridge Boyz in one of the many matches played last Sunday in the 2022 Canadian Premier Softball Cricket League Regular Season 20-over competition.
At Dunbar ground in Cambridge, West Toronto, the right-handed Prashad cracked ten sixes and six fours as his team reached a respectable 176-7 from 20-overs while Cambridge Boyz replied with 134-6 at the expiration of the 20-overs.
Apart from Prashad, another Canada-based Guyanese and skipper Roopnarine Lalbehari contributed a vital 48 which counted four sixes and similar number of fours.
When Cambridge Boyz batted, Azad Ali offered a fight with 59, an innings characterised with six sixes and four fours.
Experienced player Naurang Brigmohan grabbed three wickets for 17 runs from his maximum four overs.
Lalbehari proved his all-round capability by taking two wickets conceding only eight runs in his two-over spell to support Birgmohan.
The 20-team competition is set to continue with a legion of matches across the Greater Toronto Area and elsewhere on Sunday.
