Kaieteur News – With the aim of ensuring that all its Regional Members Associations (RMAs) are fully equipped to execute their duties in a professional and efficient manner, the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) yesterday hosted a Members Financial Assistance Programme (M-FAP) at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
This historic initiative emulates FIFA’s comprehensive and worldwide funding mechanism; the GFF’s M-FAP programme would see RMAs and Affiliates now being able to receive assistance in four key areas, namely: administration and operations, equipment and materials, competitions and technical development, and infrastructure.
It is behind this backdrop that the Federation hosted a workshop to enlighten its members on the historic initiative which was first made known at the 2020 GFF Ordinary Congress.
Forde who shared the head table with General Secretary Ian Alves and Technical Director Ian Greenwood complimented the members for making the effort and time to attend the very important session.
He encouraged the high ranking executives which included presidents and secretaries to share candidly challenges faced within the administrative realms of their individual Associations.
“This is also a learning occasion for us, like any other designed process, we have designed a programme based on feedback from you and our own observations and our own experience but we also know that you guys and ladies would share with us other bits and pieces of information that will help us in the ongoing improvement of that programme which will evolve.”
Topics discussed yesterday included M-FAP in a nutshell, competition alignment to national programme, competition planning (group work), reporting structures, financial accountability, media & public relations. Presenters included Forde, Alves, Greenwood, Brian Joseph (Youth Development Officer), Marco Meredith (Accountant) and Keeran Williams (Marketing and Social Media Officer).
