The Athletics Coast Conference (ACC) announced last week that U.S. based Guyanese Andrea Foster who is a senior middle-distance runner for the
Clemson University Tigers, has been tabbed as the conference’s Women’s Track Performer of the Week. The honour comes after Foster ran a world-leading, nation-leading and personal best time of 2:05.30 in the women’s 800 meters on January 18 at the Clemson Invitational.
Foster’s result now makes her the sixth-fastest Tiger in programme history for the event and she is the first Tiger to earn weekly honours this season.
Foster’s first-place finish at the Clemson Invitational was a superb performance, with the Guyanese taking the lead early in the race, crossing halfway in just over 61 seconds and then closing with strength and power over the final 200 meters. The final result was Clemson’s fastest indoor women’s 800 meters’ time in nearly two years.
