Competition in this year’s 9-a-side Inter-Ward Football Competition to commemorate the 85th Birth Anniversary of former Prime Minister and City Mayor Hamilton Green is set to conclude on Saturday December 21 at the Uitvlugt ground.
Originally featuring teams and players from the East Coast Demerara, East Bank Demerara, Georgetown and West Berbice battling those from the host community, the action is down to the final eight teams who will be battling for some $400,000 in prize money on offer.
Saturday’s action starts at 5:00pm and will see Den Amstel kings facing Soesdyke to be followed by Den Amstel against Pouderoyen, West Side Spartans versus Stewartville and Uitvlugt battle Wales.
The winning team will take home $200,000 and the NAMILCO trophy, while second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $100,000 and Ministry of Communities trophy, $60,000 and the NAMILCO trophy and $40,000 and the Cummings Electrical trophy respectively. The winning and runner-up teams will also receive hampers from Ricks and Sari.
The player with the most goals will get a Dinette chair from China Trading and a single bed from AH&L Kissoon.
