With the much anticipated Real Sports Entertainment Group Masters football tournament set to commence today at the Ministry of Education ground, teams are asked to be at the venue at 09:00hrs to facilitate a prompt start.
Among the teams slated to take part in the free-entry competition are Club 45, Pele, Santos, Black Pearl, Golden Grove, GT Panthers, Wales, Beacons and Park Rangers.
The teams will be placed groups after which the top two teams from each group will go through to the next round.
According to Real Sports Entertainment Group Director Challus McKinnon the competition is designed to promote football in the Master’s category and it is expected to be held annually.
The objectives of the group are to promote a healthy lifestyle, encourage past and present athletes to continue playing, entertain members of the public through competitive sports, create an avenue for the elderly athletes to participate in sports and to encourage harmony through sports.
The organisers have expressed gratitude to the Guyana Football Federation, Superbet, Survival Supermarket, Norva Supermarket, Raj, The Discount Store, Junior Pawn Shop and Jewellery and Ansa Mc Al which have come on board under their Lucozade and Carib Beer brands.
An exhibition game will be played prior to the final featuring over-50 players.
