All set for Inaugural UCCA Awards and Presentation Ceremony today – BCB President Foster to deliver feature address

All is set for the inaugural Upper Corentyne Cricket Association (UCCA) Awards and Presentation Ceremony today at the popular Taj Mahal Hotel on the Upper Corentyne. Starting time is 13:00 hrs.
The ceremony which is the brain child of President of the Berbice Cricket Board, Hilbert Foster, has received sponsorship from the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, the Berbice Cricket Board and some other well-wishers.
Among the Awards to be presented are Under-15 Player of the Year, Under-17 Player of the Year, Under-19 Player of the Year, School of the Year and Cricketer of the Year. The Awardees would receive trophies and medals, while the Cricketer of the Year would also carry home a bicycle.
The Association would create history when it unveils the Upper Corentyne Cricket Hall of Fame to honour Players who have represented Guyana and have since retired. They include former wicketkeeper batsmen Sydney Jackman and Maxwell Georgeson and off spinner Imran Jafarally. Ex Berbice Players including Bhim George, Kawal Prashad and Esmond Winter would also be recognised and honoured by the UCCA.
Primary and Secondary Schools who participated in the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association organised tournaments would also be honoured, while the sponsors and other supporters would receive Certificates of Appreciation.
Jackman, who is an executive member of the UCCA and Chairman of the UCCA Competitions Committee, is expected to present a comprehensive report on the work of the sub-association and plans for the future.
President Hilbert Foster has been invited to be the Guest Speaker; Foster is also expected to hand over cricket balls to clubs along with educational posters.
Foster during his Face the Clubs Meeting on the Upper Corentyne had committed himself and the BCB to organising cricket at the 20/20, 40-Overs and Double Wicket levels in the Association and other plans throughout the County. Emphasis would be placed on coaching and putting other support mechanisms in place for clubs. The Berbice Cricket Board has already acquired sponsorship for all of the promised Cricket Tournaments, while the Coaching Programmes have started and clubs are already receiving balls and other gear among other support.
