A fine century by Naresh Narine guided Sunrisers Masters of Essequibo to a nine-wicket victory over Fisherman Masters when the Trophy Stall, Mike’s Pharmacy and Nauth’s Motor Spares 20-over softball tournament continued on Sunday last.
Narine struck an unbeaten 115, while Richard Patterson scored 95 not out as Sunrisers Masters successfully chased 241, finishing on 244-1 in 15.2 overs at Golden Fleece Beach on the Essequibo Coast.
Earlier, Troy Ramsaywack slammed 107 for Sunrisers as Tyrone Brandon claimed 2-32.
At Malteenoes SC, Wellman beat HS Masters by 28 runs. Batting first, Wellman made 109-9 with Wayne Jones scoring 57 not out. Hannoman Singh had 3-28 and Sookdeo Lakhan 2-6.
HS Masters were bowled out for 81 in reply. Patrick Khan got 22; Latchman Kallicharran took 2-8 and Jones 2-13.
At Bourda, Floodlight overcame Tropical Spring Masters by 29 runs. Floodlight took first knock and made 77 all out. Ricky Deonarain hit 37 and Clyde Canterbury 24 not out. Tropical Spring were sent packing for 48 in reply. M. Arnold got 24; Deonarain snared 3-15 and M. Arnold 2-10.
Parika Defenders overcame Amazon Masters by two wickets. Amazon Masters took first knock and got to 137-7. Mohamed Rafeek made 26 and Raghunandan Narine 20; Oswald Chandler had 2-16 and Ramesh Rambharose 2-21.
Parika Defenders responded with 139-8 in 18.4 overs. Kabesh Persaud made 23 not out and Chandler 22. M. Persaud had 2-2, Salman Ghanie 2-21 and Mohamed Saphie 2-26.
The competition continues tomorrow. At MSC on pitch one at 10:00hrs Amazon Masters will play Floodlight and at 13:00hrs Wellman will take on Enterprise Legends.
On pitch two at 10:00hrs, HS Masters will face Sunrisers Masters and at 13:00hrs Liger Masters will battle Parika Defenders.
At Everest on pitch one at 10:00hrs, Regal Masters will take on Ariel Masters and on pitch two at 10:00hrs Regal All Stars will play Speed Boat.
At Bourda, Wellwoman will challenge Glen Eagle’s Warriors at 10:00hrs, Trophy Stall Angels will face Blue Divas at 12:00hrs and at 14:00hrs 4R Lioness will entertain Glen Eagle’s Warriors.
