RHTY&SC, M.S pays courtesy visit to Prime Minster and Army Chief of Staff

In its continuing effort to fulfil its targeted goal of 500 programmes/activities for 2017, the Management of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation, the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S on Friday last paid courtesy calls on Prime Minster Moses Nagamootoo and Chief of Staff of the Guyana Defence Force Brigadier Patrick West. Club Vice President Mark Papannah and Asst Organising Secretary Robbie Kissoonlall joined Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster in promoting the Club’s plans for the rest of 2017, while discussing possible areas of cooperation in the Say NO/Say YES Campaign, Stay in School Programme, Christmas Village Project and the Club’s highly successful Cricket Development Programme. The long standing Club Secretary described both meetings as highly fruitful and also stated that during a hectic visit to the city on Friday, the delegation also held discussions with top executives of major sponsors including Demerara Mutual Life Assurance, the National Milling Company and the Trinidad Cements Ltd.
The RHTY&SC has successfully completed a total of 231 programmes/activities out of the proposed 500 for 2017 and Foster stated that the Club was confident of surpassing this year’s target by late October. The programmes would be held under a wide range of sub-headings including sports, culture, education, coaching, anti-drugs, anti-crime, anti-suicide, anti-alcohol, youth employment, charity, awards among others.
Among the upcoming major activities of the RHTY&SC for the next few month are the Annual Cricket Academy, Annual Republic Bank Summer Camp, Annual Review Magazine, Youth Information Booklet, Youth Inspiration Forums, Region 6 Sports Award, Ansa Mcal Award of Excellence, Rose Hall Village 175th Anniversary Celebration, Walter Nero Memorial Fathers Programme, Patron’s 20/20 Cricket Tournament, Busta Champion of Champions, distribution of schoolbags, the distribution of over $1M worth of exercise books to less fortunate students and the hosting of several cricket tournaments for schools.
An excited Secretary/CEO also disclosed that the Club and its eight Cricket teams would be unveiling some major projects over the next two months that would specially target its young cricketers, less fortunate school children and senior citizens.
The Club would also be hosting several new potential sponsors to the Club as numerous companies and organisations have indicated an interest of working with the Club under its Say NO/Say YES campaign.
