South Essequibo will take on East Bank Essequibo in the final of the Essequibo Cricket Board Busta 40-over
festival tomorrow at the New Opportunity Corps ground on the Essequibo Coast.
In what is expected to be a keenly contested affair, South Essequibo will be led by Royan Fredericks while East Bank will be spearheaded by Ryan Hercules. South batting will be centered on the skipper, Norman Fredericks, Brandon Cabose and Ricardo Peters who scored the first century in the recently concluded Local Franchise League 50-over tournament. Anthony Adams will lead their bowling with support from Neilan Cadogan and Akieni Adams.
Ryan Hercules is aware of his opponents’ strength but feels his side has what it takes to win the contest.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport Hercules said that his team is an experienced one and his players are confident. “We have a great team and we will be looking to bring home the winning trophy. It will also be my last game playing for East Bank so I want to finish on a high,” he stated. When quizzed as to why this will be his last game for East Bank, the all-rounder informed that he wants to give other players a chance to show case their talent. He expressed gratitude to the Guyana Beverage Company for their contribution to the sport throughout Guyana.
There batting seems formidable with Kevon Boodie, Kemol Savory, Michael Goberdhan and Jason Heyliger. Left arm spinner Hemchand Persaud, Jimol Marks and Edwin Burnette are expected to bolster their bowling. Action gets underway at 09:30 hrs.
