The second edition of the Stag Super 16 knockout football tournament is set to kick off on December 16 at Leonora, West Coast Demerara. The tournament which is being hosted by the East Bank, West Demerara and

East Demerara Football Associations was lunched yesterday at the Ansa McAl headoffice, Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara.
Public Relations Officer of the Ansa Mc Al Dharshanie Yusuf said their aim is to ensure football is played on a regular basis and they will continue to support the game. She added that they are happy to be onboard once again and this is an opportunity for the players to show case their talent on a bigger stage.
President of the East Bank FA Franklin Wilson informed that no guest players will be allowed to participate as advised by the GFF Technical Director Claude Bolton. He urged the clubs to put their best efforts forward since the top association teams will get an opportunity to play in the FF Cup in January.
Wilson indicated that there will be added attraction during the third place play off and final which will be contested at Leonora on January 1, 2016. Secretary of the East Demerara FA Gidel Austin noted that they haven’t played much football for the year and added that they are happy to be part of the tournament. He also expressed gratitude to Ansa McAl for their support.
West Demerara FA President Orin Ferrier also expressed delight at being a part of the tournament noting that west side clubs are eager to showcase their talent.
In addition to the trophies, the first and second place teams will pocket $1.5m and $500,000 respectively. The third place will take home $300,000 and fourth $200,000. Beavers will tackle Herstelling Raiders (18:00 hrs) while Uitvlugt will face BV Triumph United (20:00 hrs) in the opening matches, next Wednesday at Leonora.
On December 18, Ann’s Grove will play Eagle’s (18:00hrs) and Victoria Kings will take on Stewartville (20:00 hrs), both matches at Victoria. On December 20 at Grove, Kuru Kururu Warriors will tackle Mahaica Determinators (18:00hrs) and Golden Grove will challenge defending champions Grove Hi Tech. On December 23 at Den Amstel, Soesdyke Falcons will play Pouderoyen (18:00hrs) and the home team will entertain Agricola (20:00 hrs).
The quarterfinals will be played on December 25th at the Farm Community Centre ground, East Bank Demerara and December 26 at the Victoria ground, East Coast Demerara while the semi finals will also be contested at the Victoria ground on December 29th.
