They were recognized for the roles they have played in the development of players in the Ancient County as well as their commitment and dedicated work according to Hilbert Foster, Chairman of the Berbice Cricket Board Special Events Committee.
Foster noted that junior players the likes of Shawn Pereira, Romario Shepherd, Shimron Hetmyer, Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Kevin Ramdeen, Arif Chan, Shailendra Shameer and Linden Austin have all improved due to the hard work of the Coaches at the Junior Elite Coaching sessions, Cricket Academy, Guyoil/Castrol Coaching Programmes and numerous clinics hosted by the BCB.
The Coaches also successfully hosted a three-day Coaching of Coaches Programme for 30 new Club Coaches at the Albion Community Centre.
Board President and Treasurer Keith Foster and Anil Beharry hailed the contributions of Coaches and the roles they played in the continued upward trend of Berbice cricket.
President Foster noted that in the modern sporting area, natural talent was not enough for success and as such the BCB over the past six years has organised numerous Development programmes to make sure that every talented player in the County is properly harnessed and prepared.
Renwick Batson, speaking on behalf of the Coaches expressed gratitude to the Board for recognising their efforts. The recognition Batson stated has given the Coaches the urge to redouble their efforts in the future.
They all pledged commitment to the Board’s Development programmes and to identify and nurture new talent. Each of the Coaches received a Ricks & Sari Agro Hamper along with several other gifts from the BCB.
