Kaieteur Sports – National Sports Commission Ministry of Culture, Youth & Sport 11th edition of the Janet & Cheddi Jagan Windball Cricket champion trophy in Region 4, organised by Sports Officer A. Munroe and played at the Enterprise Community Centre Ground, East Coast Demerara saw Hope Secondary boys open with a victory.
In the Cheddi Jagan boys segment of the tournament; Hope Secondary after been sent in to bat made 94-0, Deandre Thomas 57 (6sx5) and Isaiah Shako 21 were the top batters.
Bladen Hall Multilateral replied with 36-3, Fiazul Rohaman made 10, while Naresh Singh took 2-2 for the winners.
Betterverwagting Secondary compiled 91-0 with Bishram Udan 46 and Khemraj Haymraj 20.
La Bonne Intention (LBI) Secondary made a successful reply with 93-0 with Kyle Gibson 57 (6sx6).
Annandale Secondary the East Coast defending champion rattled up 87-0, Kevin Singh made 34 and Akeem Persaud 26.
Buxton Secondary on debut were restricted to 69-2. Tyrell King 37 and Aaron Fordyce 12 led their response.
Meanwhile, in the day/night matches, Georgetown zone – Cheddi Jagan boys:- Saint Roses High reached 61-2 with Zeebhawan Mahadeo 23 and Ezekiel Ramnauth 17.
Brickdam Secondary replied with 66-3 to win with Adam Sutherland 24.
Saints Stanislaus College made 59-1 with Ishan Haricharan 56 (4sx9).
Bishops High hit 64-3 in reply, Andrew Narine 23 and Yogeshwar Mahindranauth 17 led the chase.
Saint Roses High made 86-0, Ezekiel Ramnauth hit 62 (6s x 9) and Derik Hing 16.
Bishops High responded with 87-0, Andrew Narine 33 and Yogeshwar Mahindranauth 28 saw them home.
Saint Stanislaus College rattled up 89-2 with Noel Hihal 37 and Naitram Samad 28.
Tucville Secondary fell way short at 47-2 in reply with Colin Mc Leod 21.
Play continues over the next few days.
Thursday April 23, 26, action is fixed for Georgetown at the National Gymnasium.
Friday April 24, play moves to Region 7 Bartica at the Bartica Secondary School Ground.
