Rose Hall Town Bakewell has reached the final four along with No.70 Young Star, Police and Albion
Community Centre of the 2011 Memorex/Leslie Amsterdam Memorial Under-17 cricket competition in Berbice after they defeated Young Warriors by 7 wickets in their quarter final recently.
Playing at the Rose Hall Town Ground, Young Warriors won the toss and elected to take first strike. They lost their first wicket with the score on 6, but Guyana Under-15 batsman, Shimron Hetmyer did well to build a few partnerships; 24 for the 2nd wicket with Kedar Amsterdam (12), 20 for the 3rd with Suresh Dhanai (12) and 22 for the 4th with Desmond Griffith (12).
However, after he fell for 37 at 72 for 4, Rose Hall Town’s main off spinner Shailendra Shameer, who represented Guyana at the Under-15 and 17 levels, engineered a collapse by grabbing 5 consecutive wickets which resulted in Warriors slipping to 103 all out. Shameer ended with 6 for 26 from 12 overs and Guyana Under-15 off spinner Arif Chan 2 for 41.
When Rose Hall Town replied they were given a start of 58 from two Berbice Under-15 batsmen, Nicholas Cameron and Viendra Gooniah. Three quick wickets fell including Gooniah for 22 before Shameer joined Cameron and together they took Rose Hall to safety and first innings honours.
Rose Hall Town eventually made 117 all out with Cameron scoring 58 and Shameer 21. Bowling for Young Warriors pacer Suresh Dhanai took 6 for 18 from 7 overs and off spinner, Amir Khan 3 for 23.
With a first innings deficit of 14 runs, Young Warriors feared worst in their second innings, this time being bowled out for 79; Kassim Khan top scored with 30. Bowling for Rose Hall Town, leg spinner Viendra Gooniah took 4 for 5 from 4 overs, Berbice Under-15 off spinner Daniel Lewis 2 for 17 and off spinner Devin Baldeo 2 for 25.
Rose Hall Town Bakewell reached 68 for 3; Shameer top scoring with 23 not out to guide his team to victory. Bowling for Young Warriors, Amir Khan took 2 for 45.
