Berbice and national senior cricketer Delbert Hicks has been named the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club cricketer of the year and will be rewarded at what is expected to be the biggest ever awards ceremony set for Sunday at the J.C Chandisingh Secondary School, Corentyne Berbice.
In 2008, Wicket Keeper Hicks scored a total of 1063 runs and accounted for 53 dismissals standing behind the stumps.
In a releases issued by the club it was disclosed that Sunday’s activity will see some 1.5 million in trophies and prizes given out to top performers during the period under review.
A total of 36 awards will be handed out including male, female and under 19 cricketer of the year, most disciplined cricketer, most promising player and worker of the year. Other awardees are national players, Royston Crandon, Assad Fudadin, Esaun Crandon, West Indies female cricketer Erva Giddings, national female cricketer Shermaine Campbell and Berbice under-15 captain Shawn Pereira.
Sunday’s activity which is expected to last for two hours will see Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company Marketing Director Wyston Robertson delivering the feature address.
