Kaieteur Sports – Beacons FC and Vengy FC recorded hard-fought victories when the 2026 NALICO/NAFICO–Georgetown Football Association Senior Knockout Tournament continued with an exciting doubleheader on Tuesday evening at the Plaisance Ground.
In the opening fixture, Beacon FC edged North Stars 2-1 to book their place in the next round, maintaining the momentum from Sunday’s curtain-raiser. The contest began cautiously, with both teams locked in a tight battle for the first 20 minutes.
Beacon eventually found the breakthrough in the 26th minute, as Stayan Murray broke the deadlock to give his side the lead. They doubled their advantage nine minutes later when Antwone Vincent calmly finished in the 35th minute, putting Beacons firmly in control at 2-0 heading into the break.
North Stars responded in the second half and managed to pull one back through Yonick Norton, whose well-taken strike added late tension to the encounter. However, Beacon held their composure to secure the 2-1 win and advance.
The second match of the night proved to be an even tighter affair, with Black Pearl and Vengy FC deadlocked at 0-0 after the first half. Both sides created chances but were unable to find the finishing touch in a competitive opening period.
The decisive moment came in the 68th minute when Vengy’s Francisco Hermendez found the back of the net with a clinical finish, breaking the stalemate and ultimately sealing a narrow 1-0 victory for his side.
With the win, Vengy FC progressed to the next round, joining Beacons FC as the latest teams to move forward in the competition.
The tournament is being sponsored by NALICO/NAFICO and organised by the Georgetown Football Association and continues to deliver competitive and entertaining football action.
