Kaieteur Sports – With a top prize of $1M and $400,000 for the losing finalist being at stake this Friday in the inaugural Kashif and Shanghai organized in association with the Upper Demerara Football Association (UDFA) Linden Inter Ward football tournament, the top two teams from group play are going to be decided tonight (Wednesday) at the Bayrock National Stadium.
The second placed qualifiers in the group play will then play on Friday for third and fourth places where $200,000 goes to that winner and $150,000 the fourth placed finisher.

In the last set of matches played on day two, Monday, in a Group A clash, the Central /South Mackenzie/ Mines and Amelia’s Ward / Kara/Kara /Bamia match ended in a 0-0 stalemate, but the Group B clash ended with a lopsided 4-1 victory for Silvertown against Block 22/ Wisrock with striker Shane Haynes getting double with one each for Azainneo Benjamin and Shemiah Samuels.
Tonight’s double header feature starts at 7.00pm when Blueberry Hill take on Block 22 and at 8.30pm One Mile /Half Mile/ Scheme match skills with Amelia’s Ward.
Having won their first of two games, a draw would secure One Mile/ Half Mile/Scheme going safely through. They are favourites to reach this final having whipped Central /South Mackenzie / Mines 5-0 on the opening night.
Central/ South Mackenzie/ Mines’ only hope to have a chance to play for third place now rests with a six-goal defeat of Amelia’s Ward/ Kara Kara / Bamia, which seems unlikely against One Mile/ Half Mile/ Scheme, who only need to avoid defeat to advance to the final.
Meanwhile, play in Group B brings together Blueberry Hill /Alleys/Valleys/ Christianburg who are favoured to beat Block 22/ Wisrock, after Block 22/ Wisrock lost their game against Silvertown/ West Watooka/ Canvas City 4-1, and Blueberry Hill had romped past Block 22 4-1.
As it is now, a win would send Blueberry Hill to the final, while Silvertown/ West Watooka/ Canvas City are almost assured of making it to the second place of the group, to qualify to vie for third and fourth place prizes on Friday night.
