Crawford Memorial Turf Club horserace Meet set for March 29
The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports facilities will start their 2009 race season with a grand one day horserace meet on March 29 at the club tack at Alness on the Corentyne coast. Eight races are listed to be contested for the day. Over two million dollars in prize money and trophies are at stake and entries close tomorrow. The feature event will see horses classified B and lower covering a distance of 1200m with a first prize of $250,000 at stake.
There are also two three-year old races, one for open horses, F&G class going a distance of 1200 meters first prize $160,000, I&J class 1200 meters first prize $75,000, three year old Non-winners Guyana and West Indies Bred and will be run over a distance of 1400 meters for a first prize $200,000.
The D&E class 1400 meters race has a first prize $200,000, L class 1100 meters first prize $50,000, Guyana & West Indian bred 3 years old non winners 1200 meters first prize $150,000 and the K class 1100 meters first prize $65,000.
The organisers have adjusted race No. 3 & 6 on the provisional programme due to local horse owners dissatisfaction of competing alongside 4years old horses.
Thus the races will now be scheduled as a 3 years old non winner and the latter as a 3 years old open.
Horse owners could contact Mr. Inshanally Habibullah at Rising Sun on 624-9213, Mr. Bobby Vaughn 333-0290 or 333-0301, Mrs. Lillian Crawford 331-0048 or Mr. Lionel Moonsammy 328-7253 to have their horses entered. No late entries will be accepted.
Horses raced on March 15 at the Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club will be subjected to Re-classification based on their performance at the meeting, also horse owners are reminded to have their horses properly registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority prior to this meet.
Horses names not on the official classification list will not be allowed to take part at this meeting.
