Guyana Open returns to Lusignan Golf Club on October 31 and November 1
Kaieteur Sports – Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) is pleased to announce the return of the Guyana Open, Guyana’s premier golfing championship, which is scheduled for October 31 and November 1, 2026. The highly anticipated tournament is expected to attract the country’s top golfers, along with regional and international competitors, for two days of exciting championship golf.
Building on the success of previous editions, this year’s tournament promises an even greater display of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie as players compete across several divisions for coveted championship honours. The Guyana Open has established itself as one of the Caribbean’s premier golf tournaments, providing a platform for local golfers to compete against high-calibre international talent while promoting the continued growth of the sport in Guyana.
Avinash Persaud and Christine Sukhram will be looking to defend their titles in the 2026 Guyana Open.
Preparations are already underway at the Lusignan Golf Club, where the grounds team are working diligently to ensure the course is presented in championship condition. Players can expect a true test of accuracy, strategy, and consistency on one of the region’s finest golf courses.
The event will officially commence with the traditional Cocktail Reception on the evening of October 31, bringing together sponsors, players, club members, officials, and invited guests before competitive play begins.
LGC Public Relations Officer, Dr. Joaan Deo, expressed enthusiasm ahead of the tournament.
“The Guyana Open continues to be the flagship event on our golfing calendar, and we are delighted to once again welcome golfers from Guyana and overseas to the Lusignan Golf Club. Every year this tournament continues to grow in stature, and we remain committed to providing a first-class experience both on and off the course.”
Dr. Deo added that the club’s members, volunteers, and organising committee have already begun preparations to ensure another successful staging of the tournament.
“Our team is working tirelessly to prepare the course and ensure every aspect of the event reflects the high standards that players have come to expect.
