2026 CWI Rising Stars Under-19 Championship… Guyana beat Windward by 53 runs as curtains come down on mixed season

Kaieteur Sports – A composed half-century from Dhanesh Persaud steered Guyana to a consolation win yesterday over the Windward Islands as curtains came down on this season’s Regional Under-19 Championships.
After a rough start to the season, Guyana won their second successive match after their 184 all out led by Dhanesh all-rounders Persaud (53) and Emmanuel Lewis (43); was enough to get them the win.
Barbados played like the champs they are throughout the tournament.
Theo Edward bagged 3 wickets for Windwards, which left dumbfounded after spinners Gilbert Griffith (4-19) and Romario Ramdehol 2-13 backed by batsman Adrian Hetmyer’s 2 wickets; kept Windwards to 131 all out.
The Windwards foursome of Earsinho Fontaine (28), Derwin Lewis (26), Tyler Venner (24) and Kavaghaun Bartholowmew (27) tried to offer resistance as none of their other teammates got out of the blocks.
Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago (89-3 15.1 overs) beat Leeward Islands by 7 wickets while champs Barbados (320-9) dismantled Jamaica (204 all out) by 116 runs to finish this season with their hardware intact after playing unbeaten to the end.
