West Ruimveldt did not disappoint as they win Smalta Windball Cricket title
Kaieteur Sports – Results in the NSC, MCYS, SMALTA & ASTP, Sports Officer A. Munroe organised Return of Primary School Windball Cricket played inside the National Gymnasium show a win for West Ruimveldt Girls in the final.
West Ruimveldt, no stranger in playing finals, did not disappoint the parents who came out in numbers as they lifted the Smalta 1st place trophy.

West won the toss and sent it Saint Thomas More to bat in a low scoring final 23-4, off their 5 overs with Kezia Washington 10 not out. Patricia Avtar took 3 wkts for 4 runs and Daeshiah Layne 2 – 2.
West Ruimveldt replied with 26-0, off 5 balls. Player of the finals Daeshiah Layne slammed 24 (6s x 4).
In other action, Saint Pius batted first and scored 44-3, Amelia Barnwell 26, Ashanti Smith 10. Azalia Tullock 2-11.
Rama Krishna replied with 46-3, Aset David 21, Jenelle Grimmond 16. Shiliyah Mingo 2-13.
Over in the Boys segment:- Semifinal action saw Comenius sent in to bat, score 66-1, Nakeria Howard 40 not out, (6s x 4).
Stella Maris reached the target with 67-1, Jeremiah Smith 54 (6s x 8).
In the Final, Rama Krishna invited to bat, made 124-0, Mikhail Nelson 62 (6s x 5), Kevin Klass 55 (6s x9).
Stella Maris got off to a good start in the first two overs but lost momentum, Joshua Horatio with 32 give them hope but the overs ran out, then ended on 109-2, Aden Eastman 22, Jeremiah Smith & Sheldon Leacock 18 runes a piece.
Chidarth Persaud 1-16 and M. Nelson 1-18 were the successful bowlers.
The 3rd place was won by Comenius.
The players revived Back Packs which will be used for schools instead of medals.
The presentation for the boy’s competition will be done later in this week.
The organiser expressed thanks to all the Mothers and Fathers who brought their respective families out to make that night one to be remember, and fulfilling the expectation what was set out, the team of NSC, officials of AL Sport & Tour Promotions, the head teacher students & teachers of the twenty one schools, Ministry of Education CEO department, National Sports Commission, Guyana Breweries Inc. Trade Marketing Executive Mikhail Da Silva (Smalta) and Minister CYS Steven Jacobs who insists that Windball Cricket must be played in primary schools.
