Kaieteur Sports – The Guyana Golf Association (GGA), Nexgen Golf Academy and Westside Golf Course are pleased to announce that Comfort Sleep has once again partnered with the organizations to host the 4th Annual National Junior Open Golf Championship, scheduled for July 3, 2026, at the Westside Golf Course.
Comfort Sleep, under the leadership of Managing Director Dennis Charran, has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to youth development, sports, education, and charitable causes throughout Guyana.
Over the years, Charran and Comfort Sleep have supported numerous sporting initiatives, sponsored disadvantaged children, and hosted large-scale Christmas celebrations for children from orphanages and underserved communities.
The National Junior Open Golf Championship has become one of Guyana’s premier youth sporting events, bringing together young golfers from across the country to compete.
This year’s championship is expected to attract hundreds of participants representing schools, golf academies, and communities from Regions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10.
Competitors will battle for national honours while attempting to dethrone defending champions Bush Lot Secondary School and former two-time champions Leguan Secondary School.
The competition is open to boys and girls under the age of 18 and thanks to the generous support of sponsors, all participants will receive complimentary access to equipment, coaching assistance, meals, and tournament participation at no cost.
In a demonstration of national support for youth development, Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken has once again committed the assistance of the Guyana Police Force by providing transportation for approximately 150 participants traveling from Regions 2, 3, 5, and 6.
The growing impact of golf development in Guyana has attracted an impressive list of sponsors and partners for the 2026 championship.
Alongside Comfort Sleep, support has been provided by Royal Castle Guyana, Toolsie Persaud Ltd., Madewini Gardens Eco Resort, Monnaf Arjune Construction Services, Regal Stationery, the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Tourism Authority, Excel Guyana Inc, Kumar Auto Spares, Puran Bros Party Cas, Pegasus Hotel and Suites and several other corporate and community-minded organizations that recognize the value of investing in Guyana’s youth.
Over the past several years, through the exclusive efforts of the Guyana Golf Association and Nexgen Golf Academy, more than 27,000 young people nationwide have been introduced to golf, with girls now accounting for approximately 62% of participants.
