Pehowa Warriors stop West Coast Warriors’ winning streak at Commonwealth Cricket League
Kaieteur Sports – Pehowa Warriors put a stopping to West Coast Warriors’ winning streak after humbling them by 7 wickets last Sunday when action continued in this year’s Commonwealth Cricket League 30-over tournament in New York.
Playing at Burns Avenue Elementary School ground, Hicksville, Long Island. Right-arm seamer Ishan Hossain produced a destructive spell of bowling claiming 6-17 from six memorable overs to help Pehowa bowl out West Coast Warriors for 112 in 27-overs.
Youghestir Bachan
Pehowa Warriors, in response, reached the target with an incredible 95 balls to spare.
Despite the defeat, West Coast Warriors remained at the top of the points chart with 9 points from six games. They had won four consecutive games, but on this occasion, only seasoned campaigner and opener USA-based Guyanese Youghestir Bachan with a defiant half-century (51) for West Coast Warriors.
Bachan lost his opening partner Rajendra Khan for 4 while soon after Chandrepaul Persaud also succumbed cheaply scoring only 1.
It was more disaster for West Coast Warriors after their skipper and prolific batter Kevin Christian joined the procession having made 6.
Apart from Hossain’s exhibition, Manish Gundhi also in the wicket-column with 2-14 from four overs. Pehowa Warriors emerged winner at the toss.
When Pehowa Warriors batted, they raced to 71-1 in the 9th over with Gangandeep Singh and Sunny Singh (unrelated) the two openers. Gangandeep struck 42 and Sunny with a blistering 36.
Both fell in quick succession, but Lucky Bai Pw and Lovjeet Singh Bumrah formalized things with 11 not out and 8 not out respectively.
Off-spinner Avi Dhanpaul grabbed two wickets for 36 runs off 3 overs delivering for West Coast Warriors.
Meanwhile, the action is set to continue on Sunday. West Coast Warriors will tackle Whim Boyz while Pehowa Warriors will confront Empire Strikers.
