Evara Women’s T20 Tri-Series… Rain Ruins West Indies/Pakistan clash
Kaieteur Sports – West Indies ladies had their hunt for victory against Pakistan spoiled by rain as the match ended in a frustrating “No Result” as action barely got off yesterday at the Clontarf Cricket Club, Dublin Ireland.
The fixture served as the fifth match of the ongoing Ireland Women’s Tri-Nation T20I Series, with the Caribbean side choosing to bowl first after winning the toss; a move which seemed to be going according to plan before rain arrived.
Guyanese spinner Ashmini Munisar and senior all-rounder Chinelle Henry both grabbed two wickets yesterday before rain stopped play.
Pakistan’s batting lineup faced immediate trouble against a disciplined Caribbean bowling attack, sliding to 111-7 after 16.5 overs before the heavens opened.
Top-scorer Aliya Riaz led Pakistan with a patient knock of 24 with help from captain Fatima Sana (21).
The West Indies bowlers capitalised effectively on the damp conditions. Guyanese off-spinner Ashmini Munisar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2-15 from 3 overs, while seamer Chinelle Henry also picked up 2 wickets.
Both Qiana Joseph and Zaida James grabbed a wicket each, leaving the Pakistan middle order thoroughly rattled before the game came to an abrupt end.
The West Indies Women will look to shake off the damp weather as they pivot to their broader European tour schedule, an important series looming later this month against New Zealand.
