Kaieteur Sports – Vryman’s Erven Secondary Girls, Berbice Educational Institution (BEI) and Berbice High continue to warrant favourable results in the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Ancient Conference on Wednesday as the Region Six regional playoffs intensified with a thrilling triple-header of schools’ basketball action.
The latest round of fixtures lived up to expectations, producing exciting contests and standout individual performances as teams battled for crucial victories in the conference standings.
In the girls’ division, Venicia Myers delivered a sensational shooting performance to lead Vryman’s Erven Secondary to a commanding 16-6 victory over Skeldon Line Path Secondary.

Avion Kesney poured just about half the points as Berbice High holds Vryman Erven to 18-point defeat.

Demetrius Reid propelled Berbice Educational Institute to another win with a solid game-high performance on Wednesday.
Myers was in complete control from the opening whistle, dictating the tempo and displaying remarkable shooting accuracy throughout the encounter. The prolific scorer accounted for 14 of her team’s 16 points in a dominant display that left the opposition struggling to respond.
The boys’ division also produced high-quality action, with Berbice Educational Institution edging Tutorial Academy 19-16 in a closely contested encounter.
Demetrius Reid spearheaded BEI’s charge with a game-high nine points, producing several crucial baskets down the stretch to secure the narrow victory. Tutorial Academy received a spirited effort from Raekwone Gladstone, but his contributions were ultimately not enough to prevent defeat.
Meanwhile, Berbice High produced one of the most emphatic performances of the day when they overwhelmed Vryman’s Erven 27-9 in the final matchup.
Point guard Avion Kesney stole the spotlight with an explosive offensive display, pouring in 16 points to dismantle the opposition defence. Kesney received strong support from Shimron Jahfer, who contributed six points as Berbice High cruised to an 18-point triumph and handed Vryman’s Erven their first loss of the day.
The YBG Regional Playoffs are being sponsored by Edward B. Beharry Ltd., G-Boats Inc, National Sports Commission, Ministry of Education and Banks DIH Limited.
