Kaieteur Sports – The Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) in collaboration with the Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam has organised a cycling event around the town of New Amsterdam.
The event which is set for May 26th, Independence Day will go for two laps around the town.
According to organizer Randolph Roberts, the event will be in observance of Guyana’s 60th anniversary. Roberts stated that cyclists from his club, the FACC, will be participating as well as all other interested cyclists. He stated that letters of invitation have been sent to schools and other organizations.
Mayor of New Amsterdam Mr Wainwright Mc Intosh is expected to start the event and participate in the activity. The event is expected to ride off at 13:00 hrs.
The cyclists will ride off at the junction of Charles Place and Republic Road, proceed along Republic Road through Winkle, turn left into North Road, turn left onto Main Street proceed through Stanleytown to Tacama Turn, turn left onto Republic Road past the starting point for two laps to end in front of Leisure Inn in the vicinity of Main and Church Street.
