Kaieteur Sports – Tickets for the highly anticipated Guyana Grand Prix have gone on sale online ahead of the July 11 and 12 event at the South Dakota Circuit. Following last week’s launch at the behest of President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, online ticket pre-sales have begun via the guyanago.org website.
A spokesman for the local organizing arm, the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC), contended that the event, which has redefined local motorsport, is being treated as more than a regular racing event. “The Guyana Grand Prix is more than just a day of racing. We have an entire weekend of events planned. In the coming days, we will release more information as we confirm it, but as it relates to ticket sales, we wanted to get that out of the way early.”
“It’s a two-fold approach, the releasing of pre-sale tickets this early. Firstly, we know a lot of people in the diaspora are planning their vacations around that July period, and we wanted to take advantage of that and ensure that we give people options if they want to come back home and witness high-quality racing.” And we also know there are people interested in getting their tickets early and setting them aside, and we opted to give them an incentive for being among the first; that is, a discounted price on tickets.”
The spokesman noted that the current $39 USD per ticket for the Sunday grandstand is a limited-time offer, with prices expected to rise as the event nears.
“A lot of people have been asking about the VIP ticket packages, and those will go on presale next week. We are just trying to iron out a few small details regarding that before we release, but fans and enthusiasts can rest assured there are provisions being made.”
The Guyana Grand Prix, which is the third round of the GT3 De Las Americas series that travels through Latin America, will make its inaugural Caribbean and South American stop on July 11-12. The two-day event will feature a mix of local and international races at the newly redeveloped South Dakota Circuit, the home of motorsport.
