(Kaieteur Sports) – The Guyana Darts Association (GDA) has announced the successful conclusion of its recent tour to Panama. A six-member delegation represented Guyana at the prestigious Championship, Darts Latin America & Caribbean (CDLC) 2026 tour, where national standout Norman Madhoo reclaimed his place in the winner’s circle with a dominant performance.
After finishing as runner-up in four consecutive finals to close the 2025 season, Madhoo demonstrated remarkable resilience by securing the Event #3 title during the opening weekend in Panama City. He delivered a commanding 6–1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago’s Dean Persad in the final. Madhoo’s path to the title included a pivotal semifinal win against Argentina’s Jesus Salate, effectively halting Salate’s winning streak and preventing a clean sweep of the weekend’s events.
This victory underscores Madhoo’s veteran expertise and signals Guyana’s strengthening position within the regional darts arena. The Panama events provided a highly competitive start to the 2026 season, setting a high standard for the months ahead.
Attention now shifts to the next leg of the CDLC Tour and the Caribbean Darts Organisation (CDO) Championship, scheduled for July 24 – August 2, 2026, in Nassau, Bahamas. The GDA is currently preparing a 14-member contingent to represent the nation at these upcoming competitions.
To ensure the team’s successful participation, the GDA is calling upon “Corporate Guyana” for sponsorship and partnership opportunities. Funding is specifically required to cover essential travel expenses, including airfare and accommodation.
The Guyana Darts Association boasts a storied history of excellence, currently holding the CDO Mixed Doubles and Mixed Triples titles. On the global stage, the GDA has proudly represented the Caribbean region five times at the World Championship of Darts and twice at the World Cup Doubles. Corporate partners will benefit from significant brand visibility, with company logos featured prominently on the national team’s jerseys throughout the tournament.
The continued success of athletes like Norman Madhoo highlights the immense potential of Guyanese darts. With the support of the business community, Guyana is well-positioned to further establish itself as a dominant force in international competition.
The GDA invites all interested sponsors and stakeholders to join us in supporting our national athletes on their journey toward international excellence.
