Kaieteur Sports – The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, through the National Sport Commission, in collaboration with the Guyana Cycling Federation, has once again extended its valued support for the Annual Independence Three-Stage Cycle Race, scheduled to take place on 23–24 May 2026.
The Federation warmly acknowledges the continued commitment of Minister Charles Ramson Jr, as well as the pivotal role played by Mr Steve Ninvalle in ensuring the success of this prestigious national event.
In celebration of Guyana’s 60th Anniversary of Independence and to highlight the nation’s ongoing development, Stage One of the race will utilise the newly constructed Lethem–Mabura Road, whilst the final stage will traverse the iconic Dr Bharrat Jagdeo Demerara Harbour Bridge.
The Guyana Cycling Federation welcomes the Minister’s announcement and expresses its appreciation for his steadfast dedication to the advancement of sport in Guyana.
In 2025, Colombian rider Mateo Garcia, representing Trinidadian outfit Team Raiders, delivered a scintillating performance to win the National Independence Three-Stage Cycling Road Race, conquering the local field to win all three stages.
In the Junior category, KFC Evolution’s Alex Newton was dominant, capturing first place with an impressive time of 2 hours, 25 minutes, and 5 seconds (2:25:05). Veterans Robin Persaud and Mark Spencer excelled in the Masters divisions.
