Spinners bamboozle Warriors as Scorchers win by 14 runs

Kaieteur Sports – A spin barrage by the Perth Scorchers was the catalyst behind the collapse and eventual 14-run demise of the Guyana Amazon Warriors, who folded in last night’s match at the Guyana National Stadium Providence.
Perth Scorchers could only muster 135 all out after 20 overs ended, slipping to 41-5 at one stage before a late innings fightback from Brody Couch.

Couch hit 43 off 30 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes batting at 10, a true testament to his skills deep in a pressure game.
Only Dian Forrester (35*) made some noise for the Scorchers apart from Couch, as medium pacer Matthew Forde (3-21) and off-spinner Mohammad Nabi (3-12) controlled proceedings for the Warriors.
The Warriors then suffered a number of potential setbacks as they too lost wickets at similar pace before eventually ending on 121.
Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz continued to provide the ultra spark at the top, nailing 5 sixes and 2 fours in his 42 off 16 balls which essentially set the tone for the run chase.
The Warriors lost key wickets at the wrong time as no other batter crossed the double-digit mark apart from Shimron Hetmyer (31) who watched almost all his partners fall cheaply before he too became a victim.
Scorchers skipper, spinner Ashton Turner led an excellent spin bowling assault, pulling in 3-20 with help from Pakistan wrist spinner Sufyan Moqim (2-18) and left-armer Ashton Agar (2-29).
