Kaieteur Sports – More zone winners were crowned yesterday thanks to some exceptional individual performances by some of Guyana’s future U19 prospects when action continued yesterday at the Queen’s College Ground.
South Zone Champions St Stanislaus College.
Zone 5 North Georgetown Finals:
New Campbellville Secondary beat Queen’s College by 62 runs
Thanks to a swift 64 off 42 from Mickel Johnson and Tyrell King’s 25, New Campbellville posted 105-8 batting first after Jaren Boucher (2-7) and Nathaniel Sukhnandan (2-12) led the bowling for QC.
Man of the Match New Campbellive Secondary Mickel Johnson 63 runs from 42 balls, 4 wickets 9 runs.
In reply the house fell as QC were bundled out for 43 after Johnson followed up his half-century with a magnificent spell which yielded 4-9 alongside Jamal Samuels (3-12) and Jermaine Grovesnor (2-7).
Zone 4 South Georgetown Finals:
St. Stanislaus College beat Charlestown Secondary by 13 runs
Securing their zonal spot was the lads from Saint’s who managed to pull off a heist after making just 90-7 in their 20 overs at QC Ground.
One of the form batters this tournament, Brendon Arjune continued his form this tournament with a gritty knock of 23 not out which kept his team alive despite their collapse.
Man of the Match St Stanislaus College Aden Coonjah 3 wickets 9 runs.
Andri Sammy was the top bowler for Charlestown Secondary with 2-16 but failed to impact the game in the end as his team succumbed for a mere 77-10 in 16.3 overs chasing an easy target.
Top-scorer Dequan Hetsberger played well by the game’s context for his 23 but found little to no support as his teammates fell to the pair of Aden Coonjah (3-9) and Antonio Forde (2-6), who kept picking up wickets at key intervals during the chase; which in the end played a key role in helping to lift the title.
