Kaieteur News – Guyana proudly marked a significant moment in international sport today with the arrival of the King’s Baton Relay, a symbolic journey that connects nations across the Commonwealth ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2026.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Charles Ramson Jr, carries the King’s Baton along with Prime Minister Mark Phillips.
The baton was officially received by the Honourable Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, alongside the Prime Minister, in a ceremony that highlighted the country’s commitment to sport, unity, and global cooperation.
The relay, steeped in tradition, represents resilience, shared values, and the enduring spirit of the Commonwealth.
As it made its way onto local soil, the King’s Baton served as more than just a ceremonial object, it stood as a powerful emblem of togetherness, linking Guyana with nations across the world through sport and cultural exchange.

For Guyana, the occasion was one of pride and recognition, offering an opportunity to showcase its people, culture, and growing presence on the international sporting stage.
The event also reinforces the nation’s ongoing involvement in the Commonwealth sporting movement.
