Kaieteur Sports – Den Amstel Football Club has taken a decisive step toward revitalization on Thursday with the appointment of Devnon Winter as its new head coach, signaling a renewed commitment to growth and long-term development ahead of the upcoming football season.
The Region Three-based club is entering a new chapter defined by fresh purpose, innovative ideas, and a clear vision for the future. With preparations already underway, club officials have emphasized that the upcoming season will be driven by passion and unwavering commitment.
In a simple but effective club engagement, Club President Denise Lovell underscored the importance of returning to the club’s foundational principles as part of the rebuilding process.
During her feature address, she stated: “This new appointment means a great deal to Den Amstel FC because it reflects the direction we want to take as a club. Our focus at this stage is not just on short-term results, but on rebuilding from the ground up, strengthening our foundation, investing in structure, discipline, and player development, and also creating a culture that can sustain success over time.”
Lovell noted that Winter’s appointment aligns with the club’s broader vision for growth. “From the club’s standpoint, bringing in Coach Devnon Winter is part of that wider vision. We see this as an opportunity to reset, refocus, and build something meaningful at the grassroots level. The aim during his time with the club is to help develop a stronger football identity, improve the standard of play, nurture talent, and create a team that the community can be proud of,” she said.
As the club prepares for this new era of leadership, this one-year appointment reflects a return to its roots, fostering discipline, unity, and pride. In the world of sports, true progress begins at the grassroots level, and that is the path the club is committed to as it works to build something strong, lasting, and worthy of the Den Amstel name.
Winter’s arrival is seen as a key component of a broader strategy focused on structure, sustainability, and player development. Club officials noted that his appointment aligns with a long-term vision that extends beyond immediate results, aiming instead to foster a culture of excellence both on and off the field.
Meanwhile following the official signing, Winter expressed enthusiasm about the challenge ahead and his commitment to the team’s progress.
“My time here at the club will be a new test for me,” he said. “I intend to work hard with the players to bring out the best in each individual. Having been part of various playing setups, I value discipline and a strong work ethic. I am committed to working closely with the team, and hopefully, through shared effort and ambition, we can achieve great things together.”
With a renewed focus on grassroots development, unity, and disciplined execution, Den Amstel FC is setting the stage for what it hopes will be a transformative era.
“This is bigger than any one person,” the club emphasized in a statement. “It is about the badge, the players, the supporters, the community, and the future we are working to create together.”
