Kaieteur Sports – The 2025 Inter-Guiana Games (IGG) got off to a hot start for a number of teams, across the respective factions as action officially got underway yesterday, following the ceremonial opening of this year’s competition hosted in Guyana.

Guyana vs. French Guiana Men/ Women
Over at the National Gymnasium, French Guiana defeated the Guyanese women in a competitive game, after finishing with a 3-0 scoreline.
The French won the sets (25-10, 25-18, 25-18) despite a spirited fight from the Guyanese women.
The men also engaged in action last night, with the local squad looking to make amends for the defeat which their female counterparts would have suffered. That they did as the emerged 3-0 winners of the French team. The scores read 25-21, 25-13, 25-12 for the home team.
The IGG continues today.
Athletics Leonora Track & Field Centre starts from 09:00, Chess – Male/Female – FRA/GUY at the National Racquet Centre from 12:00, Swimming at the National Aquatic Centre from 14:00, More Chess – Male/Female – GUY/SUR and SUR/FRA at the National Racquet Centre from 15:00 and 19:00 respectively, Futsal – FRA/GUY at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 17:30
Basketball – Male – GUY/FRA at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall from 18:00, Basketball – Female – SUR/FRA from 20:00 and Volleyball – Female – SUR/FRA and Male – SUR/GUY at the National Gymnasium at 20:00 and 22:00hrs.
