2025 GCB Senior Women’s 50-Over Inter-County tournament… Millington (5-10 /21*) gives Berbice 4-wicket win over Demerara
– Essequibo dismantle Hinterland Women by 8-wickets
Kaieteur Sports – Tuesday’s round in the GCB Senior Women’s 50-Over Inter-county tournament featured big wins for Berbice and Essequibo thanks to some brilliant all-round work by a few of their in-form performers this season.

Berbice beat Demerara by 4 wickets
At LBI, Demerara were restricted from going past their final score of 72, thanks to brilliant work from Plaffianna Millington, who followed up a good game with a much better performance in both departments.
The seasoned spinner bagged 5-10 from 9 overs, while Devani Rickram supported with 2-0 to help complete another exceptional bowling exhibition.
Demerara skipper Kaysia Schultz had another phenomenal bowling outing with 6 wickets despite her team’s loss.
Only Tilleya Madramatoo (18) got going or managed to reach double-digits following the assault with the ball led by Millington.
However, Demerara would find a way out of the hole which their batters dug them into, but only for a brief passage of the chase after leaving the Berbicians reeling at 8-4 following 3 overs of play.
Demerara captain Kaysia Schultz ripped the Berbicians apart with figures of 6-30, her second 5-wicket haul this tournament which almost single-handedly won the game for her team.
Berbice senior player Plaffianna Millington (red) snared five wickets and scored an unbeaten 21.
Her efforts were negated thanks to the resistance formed by the pair of veterans in Sheneta Grimmond, who punched 3 fours as she raced to 24 off just 20 balls.
While Millington returned played a winning hand, as she showed her class by scoring watchful yet gritty 21 from 40 balls with three fours, as Berbice recovered to end on 73-6 in the 18th over.
Essequibo beat Hinterland Women by 8 wickets
Over at Lusignan, the Hinterland Women were mowed down for a paltry 50 all out in 22.5 overs with top-scorer Kelsey Couchman had 10 runs with a solitary 4, barely getting into double figures after scoring the only boundary for her team’s innings.
Essequibo pounced on their inexperienced prey, as Kumarie Persaud (4-14) and the in-form Tramaine Marks (3-14), leading a dominant display with the ball.
The Cinderella County ladies were then gifted 15 Extras courtesy of the Hinterland’s inexperienced bowling attack, eventually ending on 51-2 after 11.1 overs.
Opener Persaud returned with the bat to lead with 17 off 19 (2×4), as Laurene Williams (7*) and Navika Narine (9*) applied the finishing touches for the Essequibians.
Only Tifeny LaRose (1-23) and Feona Benjamin (1-14) who looked solid in the last game, managed to make inroads during the Hinterland Women’s bowling innings.
The finals are set for Thursday December 4. (Clifton Ross)
