2025/26 CWI CG United Regional Super50 Cup Round 2… GHE vs WIV
Kaieteur Sports – The floodgates opened over at the Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground, forcing the match between the Guyana Harpy Eagles and the Windward Islands Volcanoes to be abandoned without a ball being bowled, further adding to this season’s mixed start to each triple-header round.
This is the second game rain has ruined for the Eagles, following their opening round contest barely getting past the first innings before being called off.
Mother Nature spared no expense as Torrential showers poured specially across the St. Augustine area, resulting in a number of inspections before officials made the call to terminate any hopes of play between the Harpy Eagles and Volcanoes.
Over at the Queen’s Park Oval, weather was a bit more welcoming as the Barbados Pride hammered Leeward Hurricanes by a 7-wicket margin.
Nathan Edward (49) and Jahmar Hamilton (45) toiled as the Hurricanes were coincidentally blown away for just 138 runs in the 26th over.
Pacer Akeem Jordan snared 5-29, while Joshua Bishop bagged 3-50 bowling for the Pride, who eventually sped to 139-3 after 23.3 overs.
A century stand between skipper Kyle Mayers (55) and Zachary McCaskie (60) did the trick for Barbados who secured a much-needed win and some points; given the ongoing battle with the weather.
Meanwhile, Guyana will be optimistic the weather holds up with their next encounter set for Sunday November 23, a Day/Night match versus the home side Trinidad and Tobago Red Force. (Clifton Ross)
