– New Schoolboy’s segment, featuring 20 schools added
Kaieteur Sports – The Kashif and Shanghai Organisation has officially launched the third Annual President’s Futsal Championship, which is set to kick off on December 9 to January 2 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).

A segment of team representative gathered for a photo-op, following the launch of the 2025 President’s Futsal Championship slated for Dec 9 – Jan 2.
The highly anticipated tournament has grown into a staple on Guyana’s futsal calendar, and this year promises to be the biggest yet, featuring 48 teams, including international sides from Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago.
According to organisers, the top 16 senior teams will receive automatic byes into the second round, while the remaining 32 teams will battle for qualification.

This year’s event comes with several exciting upgrades. Co-Director Kashif Muhammad announced the addition of a schoolboys’ segment to run concurrently with the senior men’s and women’s competitions.
Prize money has also been significantly increased. Men’s Senior Championship will see first-place carting off with $3,000,000 in cash, while second to fourth will receive $1,000,000, $500,000 and $250,000, respectively. Meanwhile in the Women’s segment; $500,000 will go to the winners, second place $250,000, third $150,000 and fourth place $100,000.
The schoolboys’ segment will feature prizes (in kind) of $500,000, $250,000, $150,000, and $100,000, respectively. In partnership with MVP Sports, which contributed $500,000, the total prize pool has increased to $1.5 million to be shared among the top four finishers.
Speaking at the launch, Muhammad emphasized the organisation’s commitment to football development: “We think football is extremely important, and this is what we believe — embracing it and trying to make it something really, really spectacular.”
He added that the inclusion of international teams has already begun to raise the level of local futsal. “With the inclusion of the Brazilian team, our football has elevated. It tests our players, and we are impressed with how they perform. We just hope they maintain that level even when the Brazil team is away.”

Muhammad also highlighted the developmental goals of the new schoolboys’ component: “With growing participation in futsal both here and overseas, we decided to get the schools involved and make this a serious developmental programme. So hopefully by next year we can see a more developed team for the Inter Guiana Games.”
The tournament has received endorsements from the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports under the One Guyana initiative. It is also sanctioned by the Guyana Football Federation.
All matches will be played at the CASH, with the traditional March Past for the School’s scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on opening day.
