Kaieteur Sports – West Indies pulled off a dramatic, 1-wicket win against USA in the continuation of the 2026 International Masters Cricket (IMC) Over-60, 45-over World Cup tournament on Friday at King City venue in Ontario, Canada.
Chasing a challenging 169 for victory from the allotment of 45-overs, West Indies reached the target with 5 balls remaining.
Middle-order batsman Narine Bidhesi led the successful chase with a responsible 56 laced with 5 fours from 83 balls.
Steve Linton and Rajendra Dilraj sealed the deal with 18 and 13 not out, respectively.
David Martil grabbed 3-18 from his maximum 9 overs while Ahmed Merchant also accounted for three victims but conceded 31 runs off 9 overs as well.
Earlier, USA won the toss opted to bat first. Parak Amanta hit a half-century (53) to be the Americans top-scorer. USA ended at 168-9 (45-overs).
Mahmood Shahid added 29 as skipper and left-arm orthodox spinner Zamin Amin took 3-27 (8) and Deonarine Deyal supported with 2-21 from six tidy overs on a typically responsive King City surface.
Meanwhile, the victory puts West Indies at number 3 on the points table with 4 points equally with New Zealand, who played two matches.
England leading the points chart with 6 points having chalked up three wins from as many matches.
West Indies have so far featured in three games as well beating India and USA but lost to England.
They were scheduled to be back in action on Saturday against New Zealand when the 14-team tournament continued with its round-robin format.
The teams have been divided into two groups, A&B, with reigning champions Australia topping Group A after winning three matches from 3 outings, too.
The tournament concludes August 23.
